COLOR BLOCKING 101

Typically, when I see color blocking its not done right, or maybe just not too my liking. Either way I took it upon myself to properly deliver color blocking, The Artist way.

Of course j. crew is responsible for this beautifully put together corduroy, color blocked shirt. When I first saw it I immediately began thinking of outfit ideas because there was absolutely no way I was going to not have it.
When I first purchased it I still hadn't decided on a concrete idea for an outfit. Finally,a couple of weeks post purchase, I was back in j. crew looking for a plain long sleeve shirt to throw into my closets rotation and stumbled upon this navy blue shirt (its now my favorite shirt by the way). I didn't intend for it to go with this shirt but when I tried it on it just made sense. It had just the right hue of navy blue to match the over shirt, but not too much.
The shirt stood out enough so I decided the rest of the outfit shouldn't take too much attention away from it. My choice of bottoms are a pair of slim fitting khaki chinos from j. crew. As far as the shoes, I wore my navy Maison Martin Margiela's with a pair of red and blue houndstooth socks.
